Well hello beauties,

I’ve wanted to write this post for some time now since most of the questions I’m asked surround this topic:  HAIR!  As women, I’m well aware how sensitive we can all be when it comes to our locks.  To the point that we go to extended lengths (no pun intended) to make it look … flawless.

I wanted to take the time to write a super detailed (+ kinda long) post on the products that have worked best for me.  All of them I use religiously, are affordable, & I know you will become addicted to as well ;).

That being said, I think it’s important to experiment with products that fit your personal hair ‘make-up’ best.  Is your hair dry?  Oily?  Somewhere in the middle?  These all make a difference in picking the best products for your personal do, but I’m going to share with you my favorites along with some tips that have worked best for me over the years.

As someone who struggles with scalp psoriasis (when your hair gets really dry, red, flakey, itchy … gross/uncomfortable as hell, need  go on?) I’m always testing out new products to keep my hair moisturized + shiny.

Note-worthy: If you suffer with scalp psoriasis too, my top recommendation to keep it at bay is prescription Clobex Shampoo.  I get it from my dermatologist and use it in combination with all the suggestions below.  It is a steroid based wash + has been my life-line when I have a dry scalp flare up.  Some of you may think that washing your hair less frequently would help psoriasis, but it’s quite the opposite … I need to wash my hair EVERY SINGLE DAY.

If you’re really struggling with your scalp, you can also talk to your doctor about trying steroid injections.  They don’t hurt nearly as much as they sound and have helped me IMMENSELY when I can’t get my psoriasis under control.  Just a little suggestion :).

Now, let’s talk products that will help you get those flawless locks!

This is LIFE!  You can swing by here to grab your own Macadamia Oil Deep Repair Masque.  Three times a week (or more if my hair is really dry + fried as shit) I’ll  slather this into my wet hair after the shower & sleep with it in a wet bun.  I actually leave my hair in a bun soaking in this or organic coconut oil most of the week, trying only to blow-dry/use hot tools on the weekend.

I know this isn’t something most of you babes want to do, but if you can manage to avoid the 400 degree curling iron as much as possible, your hair WILL grow and look 1,000 times better.

If you’re a blonde or color process your hair in any capacity, I’d advise you to  try this renewal mask + bun.  Over processed hair is tough to repair so take care of you mane while you can!  Doing this just a few days a week is a small price to pay for luscious weekend locks!

Okay ladies, so these are my little secret weapon for hair growth and they really do work when you take them consistently!  Especially when you double up to 2/day.  I started to notice a solid difference by month 3 when my hair started to really thicken up + just looked and felt smoother overall.

These vitamins in combination with drinking more water (add lemon + a shot of Apple Cider Vinegar) and eating more iron rich foods like spinach, oysters, sweet potatoes, bell peppers, and lentils.  Some studies are now showing a strong correlation between iron deficiency and hair loss, so do your best to work more of these into your diet.

Get your own Viviscal hair growth tablets + add them to your hair regimen today :).  I know you’ll fall in love with ’em.

anti residue shampoo

Anti-residue shampoo is a super inexpensive addition that you must add to your hair-care routine.  It’s a once-a-week (or every 2 weeks if your prefer) treatment for all hair types that gets the junk/build up off of your locks–caused by a plethora of things.

IE:  Sticky hair spray, junk from the environment by just being outside (like gross cigarette smoke + toxic-ass pollution), dry shampoo, grease, gel, + the list goes on forever.  Even your regular shampoo can build up on your scalp over time.

Have you ever had a shampoo/condition just STOP working for you?  The results start to fall flat, literally.  That’s because it’s creating a build up.  Anti-redisue shampoo will save you from this happening.  It instantly removes up to 90% of heavy dulling residue left by shampoos, conditioners, and styling products and has a light fresh scent.  Sorry, that kinds sounded like a commercial BUT it’s true, hehe.

Your hair will never feel so friggen CLEAN.  I kinda live for my bi-weekly treatments :).

This little number is for all my fellow BLONDES (sorry brunettes, just had to share this one … y’all can skip to the next!).

Blondes are frequently faced with the dilemma of getting a sick partial & four weeks later feel like we’re just “not blonde” anymore.  My hair colorist always laughs when I aggressively ask him in the chair, “Are you sure it’s blonde enough?!?“.

I’m personally on a 3-month color cycle, so to keep the blonde extra fresh this is my weapon of choice. With purple shampoo, you will notice a difference in 4-5 washes.  Just don’t over-do it because it can dry your locks out.  I suggest mixing it with your regular shampoo, about a dime size (2-3x/week), to up your blonde-factor.

Leave it on for about 5-10 minutes & you’ll feel like Barbie in no time (say good-bye to nasty brassy/yellow pee tones … hehe).

Grab your own Dumb Blonde Shampoo!

SIDE NOTE:  If you’re in the NJ/NY area, and are a blonde, you need to get your tush over to Wonderland Beauty Parlor.  Michael Angelo is the owner + lead colorist and is an absolute HAIR GOD.

When I first met Michael, I had in 24 inches, or more, of beaded hair extensions that I adamantly REFUSED to take out (yes, they were beautiful).  Over time, he was able to get my natural hair healthy (while still remaining blonde) + I eventually removed the extensions.  My real hair has never looked better.  It’s long, getting thicker, and when I need an extra boost … I’ll toss in some clip-in’s.

That being said, Michael is a blonde artist and I can’t recommend his breathtaking (legit, dream-like) salon enough.  Plus, he does the Victoria’s Secret model’s hair … that makes me feel pretty friggen special ;).

I chatted with Michael before writing this post to get his feedback on some of the most common blonde-babe questions I tend to go.

Here was our quick Q&A sesh:

  •  What is your top recommendation for keeping blonde hair healthy/avoiding breakage?

My top recommendation for blondes is do not push your hair further than it should go!  It’s so important to stay within your safe zone.  A few shades lighter than your natural tone is way safer than wearing someone else’s hair.  And keep the heat styling to a minimum.  Olaplex is a blonde’s best friend, and weekly masks to restore and maintain moisture & strength are super important.

  • How can you make your blonde last in between highlights?

Being blonde is high maintenance.  To make blonde last between highlights, try stopping by the salon to refresh your gloss or toner.  That should soften the lines so you can rock a root, but still look like its a style choice … not a budget restriction.

  • Why is it important to find a colorist who has experience coloring blondes?

A colorist who has experience with blondes should be able to keep your hair in top shape and also be honest about what you can expect and what your personal maintenance routine should be!

I hope all these tips help my fellow blondies out!  🙂  If you have more questions just leave them in the comments and I’ll be sure to get them answered for you!

GAH, I friggen love this stuff!  It smells like a tropical vacation and is a great treatment when your hair is feeling like over-done chocolate chip cookies.  I’ve been using it a lot this week (post shower, in a wet bun) to restore my scalp in these dry, overly windy, winter months.

Just keep in mind this will leave your hair a little oily/greasy so I recommend doing it overnight. Since I rock a bun a lot (and naturally have dry ass hair) this oil doesn’t affect me much, but just a heads up!  I don’t you you feeling like a grease ball.

I also will use it after a hash blow-dry … just spray a quick spritz onto your locks to keep them light and fresh.  Shop Renpure Coconut Oil!

tea tree oil shampoo

Ah, I honestly can’t say enough good things about this shampoo.

First off, the scent of Lavender is so calming so I try to use it in every way possible during my nightly routine … lavender body wash, lavender lotion, and lavender oil.  Yeah, can’t get enough.

When I found it infused in my fav. shampoo, I sprinted to my Amazon Prime account to order.  Clearly, I wasn’t let down.

It will suppress any kind of flaking/dandruff and leaves your locks bouncy.  And you only need a small amount to get the job done.  You can find Paul Mitchell Lavender Mint here!

Moroccan Oil hair sprayAdmittedly, I am not a big hair-spray chick.  Again, probably the psoriasis curse.  But, Moroccan Oil still resides in my arsenal.    It is light, airy, and you’ll smell like an angel after using it :).

Yes, it’s a little pricey for hair-spray, but any time I buy a cheaper can I totally regret it.  Make the splurge on this one and you won’t be disappointed!

You ladies know I rave endlessly about this brand because I truly think it’s one of the best on the market.  This healing oil treatment will have you SWOONING.

I use it for my dead ends when I get out of the shower 7 days a week.  The scent is heavenly & it’s one of the most effective products I’ve recommend on this list.  You can use it post blow-dry as well like I recommended with the coconut oil spray.

This comes in a convenient pump bottle, so you need just a small dime size pump to run though your hair daily.  If you’re doing a full head treatment overnight you can use more.  I try to do this kind of deep treatment 1/week!

Say peace-out to brittle ends with this baby.

amika curling iron

Okay, drop EVERYTHING and go get this curling iron.  It will change your life + you will thank me later!  I have tried tons or different curling wands throughout the years and the Amika Switch Kit takes the cake a million times over.

Anytime I use it people want to know the deets.  If I take it on a trip with me, my girls all want to share it.

I even used it to do my best friend’s hair on her wedding day when her initial hair-do turned out less than ideal.  If that doesn’t make you want to grab this, I don’t know what will!  But in all honestly, I’ve had mine for 3 years and it’s still going strong.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!  Best in the game!

sam villa blow dryer

I saved the splurge for last, even though I really feel like a quality blow dryer is a long-term investment.  The shitty ones just don’t get the job done, take forever to dry, and break down easily.

I was in the market for a quality dryer for awhile & invested in a Sam Villa.

If I had to name the top 10 things in life I hate doing, blow drying my hair would peak in the top 5!  It’s so time consuming, makes you sweat, and is just annoying AF in my book.

But unless I marry mega-rich (wishful thinking, ladies) no one is going to show up at my door step every morning to blow out this mane.  Cue Sam Villa!

Although I still despise blowing out my hair, this dryer has made the process significantly less painful.  It’s light, not loud (so you can still hear your Spotify) + is just an awesome product overall.

And there you have it, my top 10 hair secrets!  I’m kinda glad they’re not secrets anymore … since I am thrilled to ease the hair pain any of you may be going through.

Please share this with your best babe{s}!  It took me a hot minute to write so it would mean the world to have more ladies benefit from it!
